If you want to look and feel good naturally, then here are my top 10 ways to get you there!
No. 1 – Be nice to your gut
Your gut flora can influence your health in a lot ways, from helping to extract energy from your food, building and supporting your body’s immune system, and even having the ability to affect your mood and metabolism.
And did you know that bacteria can also produce vitamins?
Bifidobacteria and lactic acid bacteria produce B-complex vitamins, including biotin, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), and cobalamin (B12), as well as folic acid and vitamin K.
A happy gut is the first step to a happy and healthy body. If you want abundant energy, glowing skin and shiney locks, then your digestive system is your number one man.
Try boosting your levels with probiotic rich foods like fermenting veggies like sauerkraut (see my blog here on the benefits of fermented veggies), kimchi, pickles, yogurt, kefir, tempeh etc. or supplementing with high quality supplements like Udo’s Super 8.
No. 2 – Get your blood pumping
Boost that circulation by hitting the gym, knocking out a home-YouTube video or joining a team sport.
You’ll release those wonderful feel-good endorphins, boost your wellbeing and mood, improve blood flow to your whole body, and unwind from the stresses of life.
Take the stairs instead of the lift next time. Get off one bus stop earlier. Take a walk during your lunch break or take up a lunch time yoga class.
Whatever you can do to stay as active as whenever possible will benefit you immensely.
No. 3 – Prioritize your sleep
Sleep is such an understated health and beauty secret.
Sleep requirements are pretty variable, but generally everyone needs between seven to nine hours of good quality sleep a night for their brain and body to perform at its best.
Without a good rest, you can’t realistically expect your body to accomplish each and every task to its full ability.
When you sleep, your body can take this time to rejuvenate itself, work out the kinks of the day and re-energise you for the next day.
Make sure to prioritise getting a good night’s sleep if you want to look and feel amazing.

No. 4 – Be positive
It might sound cheesy, but in all honesty, maintaining a positive attitude really is a true path to feeling amazing.
Exile any negative thoughts that come in to your head and replace them with something positive.
If a negative situation arises, don’t think about how rubbish it is or how it makes you feel. Think about a positive way to resolve it.
Maybe start a gratitude journal where you write down 10 things you feel grateful for that day.
You could start your morning by thinking about it before you wake up, or meditate on it before you go to sleep.
Trust me, it really changes your whole mindset when you focus on the positives.
No. 5 – Be good to your skin
Keep your skin healthy and happy by making sure to stay hydrated with plenty of fluids and to consume plenty of good fats in your diet, in particular omega 3’s.
Think flax seeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, green leafy veg or oily fish like salmon and mackerel.
Another option would be omega 3 supplements. Nordic Naturals Algae , Udo’s Choice Ultimate Oil Blend, Nourish Omega 3 , Solgar Wild salmon.
And don’t forget your lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the body’s pump that clears out toxins. A toxic laden body will suffer from bad skin tone, acne, rashes and even premature aging!
Dry skin brush daily to help move the lymph, improve circulation and combat dry skin (with the lovely effect of healthy glowing skin).
No. 6 – Eat seven + portions of fruit and vegetables a day
Add some colour to your diet by adding in a whole heap of different fruits and veggies to your meals.
Not only will you feel so much better, but you will also radiate this feeling right out of your body. Your skin health will glow, your hair will shine, your energy levels will rise and your digestive system will be more than delighted.
No. 7 – Laugh everyday
It may sound simple, or downright silly, but it’s right up there on any list to feeling amazing.
Laughing can improve your wellbeing, relationships to others and even your productivity.
I read recently about a study that was undertaken on employees who were allowed to watch funny videos online at intervals during work. The results showed that their work productivity skyrocketed!
Now I’m not telling you to do this every day at the office, but know that having a good laugh where your stomach is cramping, your tears are flowing and you’re making that ever so embarrassing laugh-snort is a good sign of self-love and a sure-fired way to feeling amazing!
No. 8 – Get the most out of your food
Due to modern day lifestyles and food choices, many people are unable to get all the nutrition out of their food.
This may be due to stress, food intolerances, a lack of naturally enzyme rich food or countless other reasons.
Firstly, I’d recommend consuming more enzyme rich foods, including plenty of raw fruits and veggies like avocados, bananas, pineapples, grapes, papayas, dates, fresh coconut, leafy greens, sprouts and fermented/cultured foods.
I’d also recommend trying to ensure you’re relaxed whilst you’re eating and not on the go or staring at a T.V screen. Be present when you’re eating and make sure to chew chew chew!
Other options to try out would be supplements like aloe vera gel juice or digestive enzymes.
Udo’s Choice Digestive enzymes are fantastic and help to improve nutrient absorption and digestion, as well as helping to beat the sometimes occuring heavy sluggish feeling after a meal.
No. 9 – Look after your immune system
Support your immune system by supercharging your body with probiotics and prebiotics, high antioxidant foods, plenty of sleep and regular exercise.
Because the immune system is largely housed in the intestines, it makes sense that the trillions of bacteria in your gut help to determine your body’s ability to fight infection and prevent disease. That’s why it’s so important to keep your levels of good bacteria up, so as to keep your body healthy.
And your immune system is not the only thing these friendly bacteria can benefit. Lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacteria have also been shown to improve the body’s ability to absorb calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, and other vitamins and minerals (all essential for healthy skin, hair, nails, bone health and more!).
And don’t forget about those immune system offenders, like alcohol, high levels of caffeine, processed sugars and foods and stress.
If you can’t remove these things, at least make a conscious effort to reduce them.
No. 10 – Take a digital detox once in a while
Social media, phone calls, emails, news updates. It can all get a bit overwhelming at times, and sometimes just over intrusive.
It can be very hard to take a step back from it, but that’s when you know how vital it really is!
Take a day or a weekend once a month or whenever you feel you need it, and just escape from digital devices.
Don’t check your emails the minute you wake up, don’t scroll through instagram for an hour before getting out the bed. Avoid watching t.v and aimlessly scrolling through facebook or online shopping.
Go see a friend. Go away for a weekend. Read books. Go camping. Go kayaking for a weekend. Anything! Anything that gets you into nature, into a happy place and away from digital devices, even if it’s just for a day!
