Now that the children are back to school…

They have different health and nutritional needs than adults which is why it is important for them to have a balanced diet, exercise and use additional food supplements if needed. Back to School time can be a difficult transition after the summer break and children may need some extra support to keep their immune systems healthy, their energy levels consistent and their brain and memory active. Sufficient nutrition and exercise throughout the year can help to lower their risk of picking up common infections and provide them with consistent energy during the school period.

Key Product: Multivitamin Formula

There may be a need for additional nutritional support for children through supplementation. Children that have very restricted diets and/or are picky eaters may benefit from taking supplements to support their health. As we approach the school year and throughout winter, children may benefit from using a multivitamin to help support their immune system and overall health. Nutrients such as folate, iron, calcium and vitamins A, D and C are all essential for healthy immunity, bone development and cognitive function.

A multivitamin, especially a wholefood-based product, can be a quick and easy way to enrich children’s diets to support prevention of common infections and ensure their development is supported. Nature’s Plus Animal Parade chewable multivitamin range can be a great way to include a multivitamin as it is also available in a tasty gummy option: win win for all!

Additional Support

Omega

Omega oils, such as omega 3 & 6 are essential fatty acids which must be consumed through diet as the body does not produce them naturally. They are needed during pregnancy for foetal brain development and throughout both childhood and adulthood for cardiovascular, eye, joint and skin health. Children who take omega oils through foods and supplements are more likely to prevent omega deficiencies benefiting their memory and concentration. This can help with children going back to school and getting back into routine.

Probiotics

Probiotics can also be beneficial for children’s health. A large part of the immune system is located in the gut. Therefore, additional friendly bacteria can be beneficial for children’s immunity and may offer some protection against common cold and flu infections. Probiotics can also be beneficial for children’s digestive health particularly for those prone to mild constipation or other common digestive concerns, as they include friendly bacteria involved in bowel health. Probiotic supplements may also offer a gentle overall support for general health and wellbeing.

Diet & lifestyle

Diet

A balanced wholefood-based diet with minimal processed food should be recommended for all children, as well as adequate intake of fibre and water. Ensuring that children snack on nutritious options throughout the year such as fruit, vegetables, and slow-release carbohydrates can help ensure they stay healthy.

Lifestyle

Regular gentle exercise for children ensures healthy weight management, strong immune system, and better cognitive function. Getting into a regular bedtime routine to ensure adequate sleep is also important.
