Nourish - Men’s Health

Each November, Men’s Health Month shines a light on something we should all be talking about more openly: men’s wellbeing.
When it comes to men’s health, a one-size-fits-all supplement won’t cut it. The best outcomes come when we combine core foundational supports, targeted add-ons, and smart diet and lifestyle habits.
(Disclaimer: This is for general guidance. Always check with a healthcare provider before starting new supplements, especially if on medications or managing existing health conditions.)
Core Supports
These are the “basics” every man should consider, regardless of age or health goals. They help fill gaps, support vitality, and protect against common stressors of modern life.
- High-quality multivitamin / mineral base
A well-balanced multi helps cover nutritional holes that may arise from diet, lifestyle, or stress.
Look for forms with good bioavailability (e.g. chelated minerals, methylated B’s) and avoid too many added extras (unless they serve a purpose).

2. Omega-3 / Essential Fats
Essential for cardiovascular health, brain function, reducing inflammation, and overall health.
Try to opt for high EPA + DHA formulas, ideally from clean, well-tested sources.

3. Vitamin D + K2
Especially in Ireland, many people run low on vitamin D. Vitamin D supports bone health, immune function, and hormone balance.
There are options for a D3 + K2 combination (so calcium is directed to bones, not arteries).

4. Magnesium
Often under-consumed, magnesium plays a role in muscle function, nerve health, sleep, and energy metabolism.
Try gentler forms (bisglycinate, glycinate) which tend to be better tolerated.

These are tailored to specific needs, which may change depending on stage of life (e.g. 20s, 40s, 60s) or health goals (e.g. performance, fertility, joint health, prostate, stress). Use them “as needed,” not necessarily permanently.
Additional Supports
- Saw palmetto is typically used to help relieve urinary symptoms linked to an enlarged prostate. It’s thought to support prostate health and may help improve urine flow and reduce the need for frequent trips to the bathroom, especially at night.
- Turmeric and boswellia are great for supporting joint health, especially for men who are active or noticing a bit of stiffness. Both have natural anti-inflammatory properties that help ease discomfort, support flexibility, and protect joints over time, making them a good choice for staying mobile and comfortable day to day.
- Ashwagandha is known for supporting stress resilience, helping the body adapt to physical and mental pressure more easily. It can aid relaxation, improve sleep quality, and support energy levels, making it especially useful for men with busy, demanding lifestyles.

Diet & Lifestyle
Supplements do their best work when they’re backed by good food, movement, and restorative habits. Here’s how to keep things balanced – without overcomplicating it.
Eat for Energy
Focus on wholefoods, colourful foods – vegetables, fruit, lean proteins, oily fish, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.
- Protein: Aim to include some with every meal to support muscle and metabolism.
- Healthy fats: Olive oil, avocados, and nuts nourish the heart and brain.
- Fibre: Think oats, beans, and veg to keep digestion and cholesterol in check.
- Hydration: Water, herbal teas, or mineral broths.

Move Daily
Combine strength training a few times a week with brisk walks, cycling, or swimming. Gentle stretching, yoga, or foam rolling helps with recovery and mobility – especially as the weather cools and we move less.
Rest & Recover
Prioritise 7–9 hours of sleep and a calm evening routine – reading, herbal tea, or a warm bath. Good sleep is when hormones reset, and repair happens.
Manage Stress
Mindfulness, journaling, and time in nature go a long way. Even five minutes of deep breathing can steady the mind and help the body adapt to everyday stress.
This November, let Men’s Health Month be your cue to take stock and reset. A few simple daily habits – a good multivitamin, balanced diet, regular movement, and mindful downtime – can make all the difference in how you feel and function.
